"GCB" IS CANCELLED! THAT SUCKS! ABC WHAT ARE YOU DOING!

Oh ABC, you brought "GCB" on with great fanfare and got me hooked to give it a shot.  Admittedly it was slightly uneven but still had moments of hilarity, enough to keep me watching and it seemed that it was starting to find its footing just as its finale rolled around.  Then what do you do but go ahead and cancel it after getting me all interested and for that I say shame on you.  I think had they been given another season they would have hit their stride grandly and while I couldn't really see this show going more than 4 or 5 seasons I still would have watched them all and set my DVR to record--mostly because it was on Sunday nights at 10pm which is a little late and I like to be in bed to get a fresh Monday start--alas I won't get the chance.

You know we gays like the sharp, funny, high campness of big-haired ladies and in outlandish clothes with wacky accents and bigger than life personalities.  Why just look at Designing Women, Golden Girls, Falcon Crest (or any 80's night time soap) and you can see our affinity for such things.  It had Kristen Chenowith, she of the perky attitude, squeaky voice and Broadway belting singing voice as seen on Glee.  Leslie Bibb who's resume is littered with funny, quirky cult tv shows like Popular, that went away too soon.  Lots of hot guys who take their shirts off--a plus and a necessity.  And of course Annie Potts playing her best Southern Belle in Texas with big accent and quick comebacks to lord over them all.   She is the epitome of camp--I mean she starred in Corvette Summer with Mark Hamill, she was in Designing Women and was in a Lifetime tv series for goodness sakes--if anyone can camp it up it's her and God bless her for that.  This show really had a lot going for it though I do think it was not paired correctly with Desperate Housewives on Sunday nights.  It would have been much better suited to be on Wednesday nights at 10pm as part of ABC's comedy night.  It would have been a great topper to the evening following Happy Endings--a much better grouping than having Revenge in that slot--which would have been better on Sunday nights.  Really ABC all you had to do was switch them out and you would have had a really strong Wednesday block and Sunday block.  Seriously--who is running the programming at your network that you could not figure this out.  Maybe you should talk to folks--like me--who have been watching television for 40 or so years and can see trends and what not and what shows work together and what shows do not.  Plus it would have made me happy and ultimately that is what it is all about people and the sooner you understand that the better it will be for everyone.

My only hope now is that it will become one of those save our shows thing and oddly enough there is a petition out there that you can sign just click here and here.  It's too bad some other network can't save it.  It would go great on LOGO but they don't have any money so that is out of the question.  For now I will just say a little prayer (like Ms Dionne Warwick) and hope either the petition makes a statement or ABC comes to their senses or pigs fly out of my ass--whichever comes first.

To watch full episodes, click here, and revel in the absurdity and tell me I'm not wrong, go ahead I dare you--beeyotches!
